Beyond static drawings: Bring CAD files to life with Unity

Overcome the reality gap in industrial product development
Industrial product development is frequently bottlenecked by what we call the "reality gap." While your teams design complex products using powerful 3D tools, those CAD files often remain locked inside specialized software, accessible only to a small group of experts. Everyone else, from manufacturing operations to product leadership, is forced to rely on static reviews and flat presentations. This fragmented collaboration creates version confusion, stretches out review cycles, and prevents teams from truly understanding how a product will function.
Unity Industry bridges this gap by transforming dense CAD meshes into a shared, interactive application that can be deployed almost anywhere from mobile to web environments. Our platform enables more people to create in 3D, shifting your workflows from disconnected tools to a single source of truth. With the Industry Fundamentals Template and its intuitive architecture, anyone can quickly get started to build their own interactive product experiences.
By making 3D accessible across your entire enterprise, you can align cross-functional teams in real time. You’ll catch design flaws earlier, eliminate the confusion of multiplied file versions, and drive faster product development. Watch this on-demand webinar to learn how you can quickly turn static CAD models into living, interactive digital assets.

Webinar description and summary
Unlocking CAD data for real-time use
For many industrial teams, CAD data is notoriously difficult to use outside of its native engineering environment. The meshes are incredibly dense, hierarchies are complicated, and vital metadata is often lost during export. This webinar details how to solve these precise challenges using the Asset Transformer Toolkit. This package allows you to import, optimize, and manage CAD data directly inside the Unity editor while maintaining all associated metadata.
Automating optimization with rule sets
Manual optimization is tedious and slows down innovation. The session explores how to use Rule Sets - predefined sequences of actions you apply to a model. Rule sets allow you to automate the optimization process, such as decimation (reducing the number of triangles in a mesh), removing unnecessary geometry like hidden holes, and simplifying complex file hierarchies. This ensures consistent processing every time a model is updated or re-imported.

Building interactive controls with UI Toolkit
Moving beyond static visualization requires interactivity. The webinar demonstrates how to use the UI Toolkit, Unity's user interface system. You will see how to leverage UXML to define layout structure and USS (similar to CSS) for styling. More importantly, the presentation covers how to use data binding to link UI elements directly to core data for real-time updates, allowing non-developers to create interactive controls that simulate live data.
Enhancing the experience
Lastly, the presentation covers how to finalize your scene for collaboration and deployment. You will learn how to implement a NavMesh to allow AI agents to navigate your industrial environments, and how to use Cinemachine for advanced camera controls and cinematic sequencing. These tools combine to create a polished, interactive product experience that you can deploy anywhere.
